Freshers' Week

Come the second week of term every September UCD gears itself up for the infamous Fresher's Week. You've probably heard of it, but have no idea what it is. Well picture a tent full of societies and enthusiastic students, shed-loads of free pizza, live music and events. For one week every society wants you as a member, and will do anything to tempt you in!

Societies range from film and drama societies to political parties to everything in between. Here's the Sinn Fein stand of a few years ago.

Meanwhile for you, the lucky student, it costs just €2 for a bag of free stuff, a membership card and access to all the society's events for the entire year.

C&E Iron Stomach Competition where participants eat everything from slabs of butter to dog-food sandwiches (tip: if attending, don't stand too close to the stage!)

During the same week the Sports Centre also has a sports club expo. Use the chance to go around, chat to the people at the stands you're interested in, ask about training etc., and see which ones are for you!
