Scholarships

There are plenty of options for scholarships in UCD.

Academic scholarships are given automatically to the people who do best out of their year in the Leaving Cert. This completely varies in subject to subject, so in arts it might be 500 points and over whereas in medicine it might be over 600. Also if you get 540 points or over you are presented with a High Achiever’s certificate.

Academically there’s also a scholarship to whoever comes first in their subject each year, which to my knowledge is €1000, so there’s no reason to stop trying!

Former UCD sports scholarship holders include Brian O’Driscoll and Robert Kearney. To date these have been awarded to over 850 students in many different sports including hockey, rowing, hurling, camogie and table tennis. http://www.ucd.ie/sport/scholarships/

The UCD Choral Scholars is Ireland’s leading collegiate ensemble. They perform and practice regularly, and scholarships are available for all who are selected through audition. http://www.ucdchoralscholars.ie

The UCD Symphony Orchestra also offer scholarships and academic credit for playing with them. Check out: http://www.ucd.ie/orchestra/

For fluent Irish speakers there are also accommodation scholarships, provided you live in the Irish house on campus and actively promote the Irish language.

Further details of all scholarships and how to apply for them are available here: https://myucd.ucd.ie/admission/scholarships_page.ezc#performing_arts
